[ad_1]

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has approved a plan to convert taxis in Dubai (Dubai Taxi and Chartered Company Taxi) to be 100% environmentally friendly (hybrid, electric and hydrogen) by 2027.

This move is in line with the requirements of the Supreme Energy Council of Dubai, the drive of the green economy and the strategic direction of the Dubai Government’s overall environmental sustainability.

Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Executive Board of the Roads and Transport Authority, said: “The RTA has taken decisive action to create a safe, clean and sustainable environment in line with Dubai’s reputation. This move supports the Dubai Government in introducing green vehicles and efforts to promote a cleaner environment.”

“The RTA has made remarkable progress in this regard, successfully converting 72% of taxis in Dubai into eco-friendly vehicles, a total of 8,221 hybrid vehicles. This major achievement is in line with optimizing energy use, creating a sustainable environment, and positioning Dubai to promote The overall goal of being a leader in green transportation.

“The five-year plan (2023-2027) aims to convert the entire taxi fleet to be fully environmentally friendly (hybrid, electric and hydrogen) at a rate of 10% per annum within five years to achieve a target of 100% by 2027. The The plan is in line with the RTA’s roadmap to transition public transport to zero emissions by 2050,” explained Al Tayer.

“The results of the RTA’s eco-vehicle trials, which began trials in 2008, confirmed the environmental benefits of reduced carbon emissions, fuel consumption and maintenance costs, as well as reduced noise levels. Compared to regular cars, hybrid vehicles last longer and in the long run Lower cost. They feature purchase prices, maintenance costs, fuel costs, insurance premiums and other related costs that can be as low as 50% of regular vehicles,” he added.
