EDGE unveils cutting-edge solutions at Abu Dhabi Defense Expo

[ad_1]

EDGE Group, one of the world’s top 25 advanced technology groups in defense and beyond, unveiled 11 new cutting-edge unmanned and autonomous The International Defense Exhibition (IDEX 2023) on Application Capabilities in the Air, Land and Sea Domains.

The major launch reinforces its position as one of the world’s leading defense groups and an emerging leader in the development and manufacture of technologically advanced autonomous systems.

New breakthrough products and systems cover a broad range of missions, including tactical intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), logistics support and complex combat operations.

Mansour Almulla, Group CEO and Managing Director, said: “Today marks the culmination of extensive investment in industry-leading companies, innovation and rapid product development to significantly expand our product range and ensure our local and global customers can Gain access to cutting-edge solutions in the market.”

“We are proud to launch a range of ‘Made in the UAE’ autonomous solutions that will enable our customers to extend their reach to new heights and depths in multiple operational environments,” Almullah noted.

“Strengthening sovereign capabilities and bringing globally competitive products to market are EDGE’s strategic priorities, and the launch of 11 new solutions in this critical area reflects our strong commitment to international security and prosperity,” he added.

The Jeniah is an Unmanned Combat Air Vehicle (UCAV) that provides a high-tech and autonomous means to conduct a wide range of military operations, with a large payload, extended range and the ability to operate at high speeds. Shown alongside the UCAV is its Ground Control Station, which is designed to monitor and direct the system.

With a higher payload of 500kg and a maximum range of 360km with a cruising speed of 120km/h, the Airtruck is designed for strategic logistical support such as troop supply in remote areas, medical evacuation and reconnaissance.

The QX6-50 is another new member of the QX series, specially developed for military and civilian logistics purposes.

Capable of flying 200km with a 50kg payload, the rotary-wing unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) can operate autonomously and is highly modular with other QX variants for ease of maintenance, according to the EDGE Group statement.

Designed to speed product development and reduce time to market, the instrumentation testbed is a fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicle that conducts in-house flight tests of air-to-ground munitions.

It noted that EDGE demonstrated two Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) solutions that coordinate manned and unmanned aviation following a strategic investment in UTM provider High Lander.

Universal UTM provides real-time, autonomous monitoring of flight plans and drone activity, with the ability to approve or deny flights, suggest alternate routes, and react to in-flight changes.

An interactive mission control platform was also showcased during the event, allowing users to automate and control drone fleets to perform operations and provide real-time airspace control.

EDGE showcased three of its cutting-edge Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs) after acquiring a majority stake in Estonia-based European developer of autonomous systems and robotics Milrem Robotics.

The THeMIS Combat UGV provides high-precision direct fire support to mobile forces and acts as a force multiplier, while the THeMIS Observe UGV is purpose-built for tactical reconnaissance missions, equipped with a variety of sensors, and can be used in day and night operations.

As the wingman of mechanized forces, the Robotic Combat Vehicle (RCV) X can be rapidly deployed alongside traditional infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) to provide significant firepower and tactical utility on the battlefield, the group said.

Milrem Robotics’ unmanned systems are complemented by its intelligent capabilities suite, MIFIK, which provides autonomous capabilities and a command and control system dedicated to robotic systems integrating several different drone and ground assets.

To demonstrate their commitment to advancing internal capabilities, EDGE is showcasing the 8×8 Robotic Combat Vehicle (RCV) concept, the NIMR RCV, which is purpose-built for tactical mobility, high performance, maneuverability and speed. It added that modularly designed multi-role platforms could reduce lethal risk by increasing the distance from enemy units.-TradeArabia News Service
