Emirates launches new Montreal-Dubai route

Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ chief commercial officer, called the new direct route from Dubai to Montreal “a second gateway into Canada,” adding that Supplementary to existing services for departure.

At 8:30 am local time on July 5, 2023, the inaugural flight from Dubai to Montreal officially landed at Montreal Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport. Adnan Kazim, one of several Emirates executives on board, was kind enough to chat with us about the exciting new service linking Canada and the UAE.

When asked why now is the time to implement the new service, Kazim told us, “It’s driven by the current partnership with Air Canada.” “Co-added value” paves the way.

When we asked him why he thought the new routes had become so popular, the CCO told us that it was mainly due to two factors. One, he shared, is “whether passengers appreciate the brand and quality, and the second is related to the network.”

Adnan was referring to the airline’s extensive network of more than 140 destinations. The extensive associations of the Emirates brand and its commitment to high-quality food, entertainment and customer service are what attract customers, among other offerings. Currently, the aircraft is only offered in three tiers: Perfect luxury in Emirates First Class, Emirates Business Class (still Very luxury), and Economy Class. However, as more and more aircraft are retrofitted with premium economy features, this may be added to the selection.

Will Emirates expand in Canada in the future?

While Dubai International Airport (DXB) tends to be a transportation hub rather than a final destination, it is expected that more and more Canadians will use Dubai as the last stop on this new route. In addition to Toronto and Montreal, Adnan told us that Emirates is always open to the possibility of further expanding its network within Canada.

Asked whether the A380 might start serving the Montreal-Dubai route, Adnan Kazim said it was not in Emirates’ immediate plans but could happen in the future, depending on demand. “It’s early days for us,” he said, “but we’ll definitely be looking at that as the market matures.”

Travelers can now book direct flights from Dubai to Montreal (and, of course, Montreal to Dubai) with Emirates. An added bonus of this route is that YUL offers flights during off-peak hours of the day to create a less crowded and more enjoyable airport and flying experience.

The number of references to both Dubai, UAE (with lots of things to do and see) and Montreal, one of the top tourist cities in CanadaAdnan told us that the flight between Dubai and Montreal optimally combines the two hubs, leaving travelers with separate destinations. “Bringing the two cities together is a win,” the CCO said.
