Emirates News Agency – 14th UAE Skills National Competition kicks off tomorrow in Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI, 12th March, 2023 (WAM) — The 14th edition of the UAE Skills National Competition will be held from 13th to 15th March, 2023 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center, ADNEC, with the participation of more than 300 people Talented Emiratis will compete in 23 technical and vocational skills competitions, assessed and evaluated by more than 100 experts.

The event was organized by the Abu Dhabi Center for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET), under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), Chairman of the Supreme Council of Motherhood and Childhood, and the Family Development Foundation (FDF) Supreme Chairman, and the “Mother of the Nation”.

The EmiratesSkills National Competition is the country’s largest platform for aspiring Emiratis seeking to build their careers and entrepreneurial endeavors in the technical and vocational fields.

Dr. Mubarak Saeed Al Shamsi, Director General of ACTVET, said, “UAE NationalSkills is an invaluable opportunity for UAE youth to qualify for the UAE National Team, who will represent the UAE at the prestigious WorldSkills 2024, as well as other regional and international competitions. Helps strengthen the UAE’s global position and ranking in TVET.

“Today’s youth hold the key to unlocking a sustainable tomorrow. The competition helps empower UAE youth to drive innovation, lead change and build a brighter future for future generations.”

Dr Al Shamsi also highlighted the importance of engaging young participants aged 12 to 15 in this year’s Skills UAE National Competition, where they will compete in four skills competitions including mobile robotics, public speaking, 3D printing and coding. “By developing these skills at an early age, we can help foster a culture of innovation and excellence among young people in the UAE,” he said.

Unlike previous years, this year’s contestants are also winners of a skills challenge held in all emirates earlier this year. They will compete in 23 skill competitions including aircraft maintenance, mobile robotics, CNC milling, CNC turning, coding, 3D printing, artificial intelligence, programming and more. Through this initiative, ACTVET aims to prepare a team to represent the UAE in global competitions and strive to repeat the achievements of the team that participated in WorldSkills 2022 and won 1 Gold and 9 Merit Medals. UAE nationals between the ages of 16 and 21 are eligible to compete in their chosen discipline and are assessed against the international WorldSkills international competition standards.

Ali Al Marzouqi, President, EmiratesSkills, said: “For 13 years, the national competition has helped young Emiratis to develop skills, inspire them and motivate them to learn, ensuring that the talent pipeline is passed to address the existing skills gap in the UAE. The current The workforce and preparing them for the jobs of the future.” The EmiratesSkills national competition is open to all events and ACTVET invites students, parents, professionals and the wider community to celebrate exceptional talent from the UAE at ADNEC on 13 March.
