Emirates News Agency – Abu Dhabi Chamber of Labor Camp Developers Group holds first meeting in 2022 after restructuring

ABU DHABI, 5th December, 2022 (WAM) — The Labor Camp Developers Group, affiliated with the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, ADCCI, held its first meeting in 2022 at the Abu Dhabi Chamber headquarters to discuss Recent developments in labor camps and their current challenges, suggested solutions and programs.

This is in line with the sustainable economic development goals of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The meeting was chaired by Otaiba Saeed Al Otaiba, Chairman of the Labor Camp Development Group, and attended by Mohamed Hilal Almeri, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce, and representatives of the Abu Dhabi labor camps.

Al Mheiri said: “As the voice of the private sector and the party responsible for protecting the interests of the sector, Abu Dhabi Chamber will continue to work hard to support the enforcement of labor camp regulations. We will also continue to raise awareness of foreign workers’ rights and engage with relevant governments Physical liaison to take pre-emptive measures to overcome any future challenges.”

“There is a need for greater integration and coordination between the public and private sectors to increase productivity levels and contribute to increased revenues for business enterprises, which will support the social and economic growth of communities,” he added.

The board of directors of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce approved the restructuring of the labor camp developer group in September 2022. Under the new structure, Al Otaiba was appointed chairman of the group, of which Ahmad Abu Al Yazid, Ammar Ramadan, Mudather Ahmed, Firas Jumblatt, Firas Zahzah and Khalil Ibrahim are members. The group’s mandate included addressing the challenges of the Abu Dhabi labor camps and recommending to the Board that they discuss these challenges and take necessary action.

The Labor Camp Developers Group is one of Abu Dhabi Chamber’s initiatives to strengthen coordination and communication with the private sector in Abu Dhabi, identifying challenges it faces and proposing solutions in coordination with various local and government entities.

Al Otaiba said: “The group will continue to take measures to improve the working conditions of Abu Dhabi’s workforce. We will ensure that all conditions are in place to provide them with a safe working environment and satisfy them according to the best safety standards and international standards concerning foreign workers. demand. By doing so, we help strengthen Abu Dhabi’s position as a regional and global investment leader and attract more foreign direct investment and labor to support the emirate’s growth and development.”

The meeting produced several outcomes, including reconsidering the working group’s organizational structure, holding monthly meetings, appointing representatives of relevant government entities as permanent members, and planning to communicate with these entities as soon as possible to advance the required steps.

The meeting also included recommendations to overcome some of the challenges in order to improve the efficiency and quality of services provided by the penal development team.

There are currently more than 30 labor camps in the Al Musaffah, Hameem and Al Mafraq areas of Abu Dhabi which have been developed and equipped with all facilities, equipment and services. The rapid growth and launch of new facilities in Abu Dhabi has resulted in the arrival of many workers and service providers, which has increased the demand for suitable accommodation and residential facilities.
