ABU DHABI, 12th December, 2022 (WAM) — The Abu Dhabi Department of Justice, ADJD, held an introductory lecture for students of the Abu Dhabi School of Law, Sorbonne University, on the legal system of the United Arab Emirates and newly introduced procedures and laws and their role in developing the judiciary and legal system are in line with the government’s efforts to strengthen the country’s competitive position at the global level.
This introductory lecture is part of the Ministry of Justice’s effort to improve the performance of educational institutions by enriching students’ theoretical knowledge and linking it to work in practice, as directed by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Part of an effort by Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Presidential Courts and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Justice, to strengthen community engagement across institutions to ensure quality and excellence at all levels
During the lectures, students were able to learn about the UAE’s judicial system, the different courts and jurisdictions, and how local laws differ from those of other countries. They also learned about the digital services provided by Abu Dhabi courts, the remote litigation system and interactive case registration services and their role in promoting access to justice through smart and innovative means.
The lecturers also shed light on the Civil Marriage Law and its implications in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, the only exception in the Arab region where civil law applies to non-Muslim foreigners in matters of personal status, a testament to the visionary, development-focused leadership of the country Comprehensive and advanced service system, striving for excellence, leading the world.
