ABU DHABI, 1st November, 2022 (WAM) — The Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre, ADPHC, chaired the final meeting of the Abu Dhabi COVID-19 Research Council in 2022, before forming a new committee to deal with The following public health research affairs year.
The meeting saw members and subcommittee members appear in person for the first time since the pandemic to report their latest findings on pandemic research and highlight their efforts over the past two years.
On this occasion, Dr Farida Al Hosani, Executive Director of Infectious Diseases at ADPHC and Chair of the Abu Dhabi Research Council, said: “The UAE has emerged as one of the world’s leading countries in its response to the COVID-19 pandemic. It has also adopted first-class collaboration and scientific Research methods to control any potential public health challenges. As Chair of the National COVID-19 Research Council, I am privileged to lead a dedicated team of professionals who are expanding the UAE’s research capabilities for a healthier and more prosperous future for our nation.”
He explained that the committee’s goal is to foster research collaborations among healthcare professionals, academics and pharmaceutical companies to accelerate and translate COVID-19 research into policy and public health responses. “It is divided into four subcommittees dealing with different aspects of research: epidemiology, diagnostics, therapeutics and institutional review boards,” he added.
