Emirates News Agency – ADIFE, Abu Dhabi Date Fair see wide international participation

ABU DHABI, 6th December, 2022 (WAM) — H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister in the Presidency and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority, Under the patronage of His Excellency (ADAFSA), Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence and Chairman of the Khalifa International Date Awards and Agricultural Innovation Inaugural Exhibition of Events at the International Food Festival (ADIFE), held in conjunction with the 8th Abu Dhabi Date Fair.

Both exhibitions will be held until December 8 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

The opening of the exhibition was attended by Mariam bint Mohammed Saeed Hareb Almheiri, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, Saeed Al Bahri Al Ameri, Director General of Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority, and a number of government and private sector officials.

His Excellency Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed said that under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, the UAE is stepping up its efforts to consolidate sustainable development. The UAE is presenting an inspiring experience to the world while meeting the requirements of economic, social and environmental development.

In a statement on the launch of ADIFE, HH said sustainable development efforts in agriculture and catering are based on building a sustainable sector empowered by technology. This contributes to food and water security, strengthens supporting sectors of the food system, develops and increases agricultural productivity, and drives research and innovation.

He added that the UAE has taken important steps to establish a base for agricultural development and address the challenges of climate change and water scarcity. These efforts contribute to improving the operational efficiency and productivity of agricultural and food systems, ranking high in food security and food quality and safety indicators. It also reduces food loss and waste and achieves high self-sufficiency rates for many food commodities.

Sheikh Mansour praised the sophistication achieved by national and Arab companies specializing in food production and processing, as their reliance on modern technology increases the chances of doubling local production. It has also increased reliance on local produce to meet growing food demand. His Highness noted that ADIFE is an important opportunity to increase productivity and sustainability by learning about the latest technologies in the field of food production and processing and forging investment partnerships that support the agricultural sector and achieve sustainable food security.

Saeed Al Bahri Al Ameri, Director General of ADAFSA, said that ADIFE is an opportunity to learn about global expertise that enhances the concept of food safety, safety and health and helps to realize the aspirations of wise leadership to become leaders in food safety. He noted that it is also an opportunity for local companies and manufacturers to learn about the latest technologies and innovations in the field of food production, in addition to providing many opportunities for signing deals and cooperation agreements between government and private sector institutions.

Al Ameri commended the efforts of ADNEC Group in organizing the exhibition and presenting it in a manner suitable for the emirate of Abu Dhabi, and thanked the sponsors for their great support for the first edition of the event. He affirmed that ADAFSA, as a strategic partner, is committed to making ADIFE the most outstanding exhibition in the Middle East and even the world in the field of food, beverage and hotel.

The first ADIFE featured more than 30 renowned international speakers for panel discussions focusing on 3 main themes: food safety, investment and innovation in food production, and the food and beverage industry.

It will also host accompanying events such as the Global Buyers Program aimed at strengthening partnerships within the supply chain, as well as the World Food Show, the ADIFE Innovation Awards, the UAE National Coffee Championship and the International Latte Art Championship, the First time outside of Milan, Italy.

The Global Buyer Program is designed to strengthen and support partnerships within the supply chain and deliver new products. The program provides an opportunity to meet suppliers and strike new trade deals, in addition to having dedicated pavilions at the show to help global buyers meet a specific set of exhibitors through a series of interactive sessions.

The exhibition will also host the second edition of the World Food Show in Abu Dhabi, where professional chefs will offer educational sessions to visitors and compete for valuable prizes. The event will be held in the unique World Gourmet Show Kitchen, which features an aquaculture garden, providing guests with valuable information on this style of gardening that uses water and nutrients instead of soil. It also houses a beverage lab offering a wide selection of luxury beverages and coffees. Held 7 hours a day, the show is filled with educational sessions and performances, as well as exciting competitions between participants.

The first edition of the exhibition will also host the ADIFE Panels, a 3-day panel of various conversations held during the event, featuring international chefs and senior officials of the industry. Panel discussions will focus on 3 main themes: food safety, investment and innovation in food production, and the food and beverage industry.

The event will also host the ADIFE Innovation Awards, a platform to showcase the most innovative and outstanding products in the food and beverage industry, allowing visitors to keep up with new global trends, highlighting the role of investing in innovation in shaping the future of the sector. Exhibitors can sign up for the awards, overseen by a panel of expert and industry veteran judges, offering exhibitors a special opportunity to showcase their new products to the thousands of attendees.

Another event that took place during the exhibition was the International Latte Art Championship, held outside Italy for the first time in history and one of the most important international competitions in this field. This exclusive event will be attended by Luigi Lupi, founder of Latte Art Coffee School and creator of the school’s grading system and its globally recognized certificates.

ADIFE will also shed light on the rapid growth of the coffee industry as the most widely consumed beverage in the world, including two championships accredited by the International Coffee Association: the UAE National Coffee Championship and the Gastronomy Championship 2023 International Coffee Championship as a qualifying event.

In addition to a series of bilateral meetings between buyers and sellers in various supply chains, the show is expected to see the announcement of numerous contracts and deals as well as the signing of partnership agreements between a wide range of government agencies and private sector companies.

In addition, the exhibition will include various related activities and events highlighting the most important issues related to food production, all kinds of hospitality and food service, as well as a number of international seminars and competitions.
