ABU DHABI, 6th January, 2023 (WAM) — His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Representative of the Ruler in the Al Dhafra region, has stressed that President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed His Highness Zayed Al Nahyan is passionate about supporting farmers and providing various forms of support to the agricultural sector.
In this regard, Sheikh Hamdan commended the efforts and initiatives of the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) to achieve sustainability in the agricultural sector and ensure the conservation of natural resources. He also commended ADAFSA for its services to farmers and livestock keepers, and its efforts to incentivize them to adopt best agricultural practices, as well as initiatives to empower farmers and increase economic returns.
This was brought up during a meeting with ADAFSA Director General Saeed Al Bahri Al Ameri at the Al Nakheel Palace in Abu Dhabi.
The meeting was attended by Ahmed Matar Al Dhaheri, Head of the Office of the Al Dhafrah Region Ruler’s Representative, Nasser Mohammed Al-Mansouri, Director-General of the Al Dhafrah Region Municipal Government, and several local officials.
During the meeting, Sheikh Hamdan was briefed on the initiatives and projects implemented by ADAFSA in the Al Dhafra area, including the development and modernization project of the agricultural sector in Del Mar Island and the project to build a state-of-the-art veterinary hospital for livestock keepers in the Al Dhafra area.
Sheikh Hamdan was also briefed on the farmers’ bazaar (market) initiative by Silal Co. in the Al Wathba area, which he described as a good example of an initiative to achieve economic and social development goals as it helps to empower farmers and In addition to restoring domestic trade, developing agriculture and supporting food security, creating local should also establish marketing channels.
Sheikh Hamdan was also informed of future trends in diversifying agricultural production, strengthening effective partnerships with the private sector to ensure food security and improve supply chain efficiency. He was also updated on ADAFSA’s efficient partnership system with the UAE private sector, where ADAFSA strives to benefit from the global expertise available to the private sector as well as food and feed producers to strengthen supply chains and achieve sustainable food production.
ADAFSA Director General Saeed Al Bahri Al Ameri expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and HH Sheikh Hamdan for their support of sustainable development efforts.
He emphasized that all efforts of ADAFSA to develop and sustain the agricultural sector in the emirate of Abu Dhabi are closely related to His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister in the Presidency and Chairman of the Board of Directors.
