Emirates News Agency – Record-setting IDEX, NAVDEX to open in Abu Dhabi, wide participation

ABU DHABI, 9th February, 2020 (WAM) — Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President, the 16th edition of IDEX 2023 and the 7th edition of NAVDEX 2023 will be held 20-24 February 2023 at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC). This year marks IDEX’s 30th anniversary and will be the largest in the event’s history, attracting participants from around the world to showcase the latest developments in the international defense arena.

The two exhibitions, organized by ADNEC Group in cooperation with the Ministry of Defense, provide an international platform to showcase the latest innovations in the international defense field and a global forum to showcase the development of advanced technologies and equipment in this field. It is also an opportunity to forge strategic partnerships among major companies specialized in defense and military industries around the world.

The exhibition will also include the International Defense Conference (IDC 2023), providing a forum for discussing the latest developments in advanced technology and equipment for the defense sector.

The event was attended by Major General Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the Higher Organizing Committee for both exhibitions; Major General Dr. Mubarak Saeed bin Gafan Jabri, Vice Chairman of the Supreme Council; and ADNEC Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Executive Humaid Matar Al Dhaheri.

Al Mazrouei highlighted the importance of the 16th edition of IDEX 2023 and the 7th edition of NAVDEX 2023, saying it was the largest in the event’s history and marked the culmination of 30 years of success. He attributed this success to the support of the UAE leadership and the country’s reputation at the regional and international levels.

Al Mazrouei said the exhibitions provide a platform for policy makers and experts to learn about the latest technologies and innovative equipment in the defense industry sector, noting the record attendance of international companies and delegations from around the world demonstrates the status of strategic exhibitions and its role in shaping the future of the industry.

He thanked ADNEC Group and all organizing committees and national institutions for their efforts to make the exhibition a success, and said that the UAE, known for tolerance, coexistence, safety and security, looks forward to welcoming participants and visitors from all over the world of.

Dr Al Jabri said: “We are grateful to our wise leadership for their unwavering support for the UAE to become a prominent player in the defense industry. The IDEX and NAVDEX exhibitions and IDC 2023 are testament to the country’s commitment to staying ahead in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and promote a knowledge-based economy.

“Over the past three decades, both fairs have seen significant growth in the number of local and international participants, as well as increased deals announced and official international delegations to the event. This year, we are honored to host More than 350 official delegations from all over the world, an increase of 191% compared to the previous edition.”

In addition to exhibitions, IDC 2023 will bring together more than 1,800 leaders, senior officials, and representatives from defense, security, and academic institutions and companies to discuss and exchange on the latest advanced technologies. Themed “Adapt, Explore, Transform: Reimagining Security, Society, and the Human Experience in an Era of Disruption,” the conference will feature four panel discussions on the economic and social implications and risks of adopting modern technologies, talent development, and innovation. Human capital management, and the impact of technology on defensive operations.

Humaid Al Dhaheri announced that the current edition of IDEX and NAVDEX is the largest in the event’s history. With 1,350 exhibiting companies, the number of exhibitors has increased by 50% compared to the previous edition in 2021 and by 285% compared to the first edition in 1993. This edition is expected to attract more than 130,000 visitors from 65 countries, an increase of 209% over the 2021 edition and 200% over the first edition. The number of national pavilions increased by 17% compared with the previous session to 41, with a total exhibition area of ​​165,000 square meters, an increase of 20%.

This year’s show will also host NAVDEX for the first time in the new ADNEC Marina Hall, which with a total area of ​​over 10,000 square meters is the largest of its kind in the Middle East. This resulted in a 206% increase in the number of exhibitors and a 35% increase in the total exhibition area. In addition, 9 new countries will participate in the event for the first time, and a dedicated start-up zone with an area of ​​more than 1,500 square meters has been added to host more than 82 start-up companies from 25 countries.

Daheri thanked the Ministry of Defense, the Higher Committee of Organisation, and all subcommittees and partners from the public and private sectors for their efforts to make the event a success. The current edition of NAVDEX will feature naval vessels from 8 countries at ADNEC Port and Zayed Port, and the Grandstand area and Water Canal area at ADNEC Marina will host live demonstrations of the latest equipment and vehicles.

The current editions of IDEX and NAVDEX will also host the first edition of IDEX and NAVDEX Talks, a series of interactive panel discussions and will feature an exhibit overview and an innovation track tour, giving visitors an insight into the exhibit and the innovative products on display .
