Day 4 of the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open continues with the second round, with early dominance of seeds as World No. 1 Daria Kasatkina and No. 8 Lyudmila Samso Nova advanced to the quarterfinals through a tough test.
Kasatkina needed to turn around the clash with Jil Teichmann after a slow start, winning 1-6, 6-0, 6-2 in one hour and 43 minutes. Earlier, Samsonova needed six match points to beat Barbora Krychkova 7-5, 7-6(6) in 2 hours and 24 minutes.
Kasatkina hadn’t lost a set to Teichmann in the previous two matches, but the Swiss player’s bravado got the upper hand early on. Teichmann seized every opportunity and hit 13 winners in seven matches to seal the victory with a superb strike against the world’s No. 8 opponents.

Earlier, Samsonova reached her first quarter-final of the season after stopping Krychkova’s comeback in both sets. Now at a career-high 19th, Samsonova led 4-1 in the first set and 5-2 in the second, but ultimately needed all her resilience to get through both. Contest.

Former French Open champion Krytschkova won four games in a row to serve at 5-4 in the first set and saved her first five match points in the second set to force a tie-break.
