SAINT PETERSBURG, 26th May, 2023 (WAM) — Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Assembly, said that the UAE is expanding its climate innovation record and building an ecosystem of climate solutions using its technological and natural strengths as an energy hub.
Ghobash was speaking at the 10th Nevsky International Ecological Congress, which he attended as the guest of honor.
“To date, the UAE has invested US$50 billion in renewable energy in more than 70 countries and has committed to invest another US$50 billion in clean energy projects at home and abroad over the next decade,” he added during the meeting.
The 10th Nevsky International Ecological Congress will be held on May 25-26, 2023 at the Tauride Palace in St. Petersburg. The theme of this year’s conference is “Ecology: a right, not a privilege”.
The Nevsky International Conference on Ecology is an important platform for setting the environmental agenda. As part of an open international dialogue, the Congress will provide an opportunity to discuss the most pressing and relevant environmental issues and strengthen inter-parliamentary cooperation in ensuring environmental safety and harmonizing environmental legislation.
During his official visit to the Russian Federation, Gorbash and his party met with the Speaker of the St. Petersburg Parliament Alexander Belsky, and the two sides held talks on ways to strengthen cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries.
