Emirates to double daily service to Brisbane

[ad_1]

Emirates launched a second daily service to and from Brisbane on June 1, using a Boeing 777-300ER, marking the airline’s 20th anniversary of serving Brisbane, one of Australia’s four gateways.

Emirates flight EK 430 departs Dubai at 0230 hours and arrives in Brisbane at 2220 hours. Return flight EK 431 departs Brisbane at 0250 hours and arrives in Dubai at 1100 hours local time. The airline currently operates one daily A380 flight to Brisbane.

The extra service means Emirates will resume operating to Brisbane at pre-pandemic levels. The expansion will increase capacity through Brisbane by more than 250,000 seats per annum.

Barry Brown, Emirates Regional Vice President Australasia, said: “As we proudly celebrate 20 years flying to the Sunshine State, we have launched our second daily flight to Brisbane. Demand from Australians wishing to travel abroad and also welcoming more travelers and visitors to Queensland from Dubai and our global network.

“This additional service, combined with our daily A380 to Brisbane, means Emirates will offer almost 12,000 weekly seats to and from Brisbane. This is another major milestone in our return to Australian capacity and reiterated We have a long-term commitment to flying over Australia. We look forward to welcoming more Australians to the Emirates and enjoy the Emirates experience.”

“It’s a huge vote of confidence in the Brisbane and Queensland markets. It effectively doubles Emirates’ capacity between the two cities overnight, offering more seats to key markets in the Middle East and Europe. It’s an important brick in the wall in terms of rebuilding what was lost by covid,” Brisbane Airport Corporation chief executive Gert-Jan de Graaff said.

“In October, we will be celebrating 20 years of Emirates’ service to Brisbane. The airline has continued to provide a lifeline to repatriate Australians during the height of the pandemic and has allowed vital Queensland exports to continue.

“These new flights will also help put downward pressure on airfares that have been rising due to high demand and low supply.”

The expansion is backed by the $200 million State Government and Industry Attracting Aviation Investment Fund, which aims to boost Queensland’s tourism economy.

Queensland’s Acting Premier, Steven Miles, welcomed Emirates’ infusion of passenger and cargo capacity: “This additional service is estimated to provide an additional 730 direct and indirect jobs in the state. Emirates An extensive global network covering more than 130 destinations will ensure a high level of connectivity to the UK, Europe, Scandinavia, Africa and North America.”

With the addition of Brisbane flights on June 1, Emirates will operate 49 weekly flights to Australia, supporting the recovery of tourism and promoting trade and business opportunities by providing passengers with more access to and from Australia.

Emirates has served Australia for more than 25 years and since 1996 has flown more than 40 million passengers to and from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, as well as other destinations, through its Dubai hub. – trade arab news agency
