Last year, the UAE Pension Agency distributed AED4.87 billion to pensioners and beneficiaries. The General Pensions and Social Security Authority (GPSSA) said 18,957 pensioners, 8,510 beneficiaries and 4,677 Emiratis entitled to end-of-service payments benefited from last year’s payout.

Last year’s expenditure was Dh820,000 higher than the Dh4.05 billion in 2021.

“GPSSA has focused on meeting all its financial obligations by fixed dates to ensure that pensioners and their heirs (known as beneficiaries) receive their dues on time. Steps have been taken to ensure services for pensioners and beneficiaries The indicators are constantly improving,” the agency said in a statement to the Khaleej Times.

Over the past two years, GPSSA has developed two services for pensioners and beneficiaries: access to an updated data system and a “maybe involved” certificate issuance service. This helps provide “proactive” online support and reduces the need to visit a service center.

“For example, the number of customers visiting GPSSA’s Customer Happiness Center in 2021 will reach 41,730. By 2022, the number of recorded customers will be significantly reduced by 11,763,” the agency said.

GPSSA completed 6,138 filings in 2022 to ensure that pension or end-of-service benefits are paid within one month of the insured’s employment ending. “This is done within 14 working days, during which the insured person’s data is shared with his/her employer within seven working days and the transaction is completed by GPSSA within the remaining seven working days. The The process ensures that there is no delay between end-of-service benefits and payment due.”
