Equiti Receives UAE’s SCA OTC Derivatives and Currency License in 2022

In April 2022, the Equiti Group announced that its Abu Dhabi-based subsidiary, Equiti Securities Currencies Brokers LLC, has been granted a license from the Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA) of the UAE for OTC Derivatives and Currencies in the Spot Market – License No. 20200000026.

The newly launched activity is licensed to trade over-the-counter derivatives and currencies in the spot market under the SCA’s Financial Activities Regulatory Manual or “Licensing Rulebook” Type 1 license.

The stringent requirements set by the SCA, including higher paid-in capital requirements for the activity, align the UAE with global regulatory standards and position the SCA as the top regulator for advanced financial markets in the Middle East and UAE.

The brokerage’s new SCA license will strengthen the company’s international growth trajectory as the group continues to apply for new licenses around the world to enter new markets with proper governance.
