The Dubai Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) has announced the deployment of 126 “Expo Rider” public buses to provide free services to visitors to Expo 2020 Dubai from nine locations in Dubai.
In addition, two lines will be opened to transport Expo visitors directly from the hotel to the Expo site. RTA will also deploy buses to transport tourists from the parking lot to the gates, and there is another bus service to transport passengers between the Expo gates.
From Saturday to Wednesday, there will be 1,956 direct buses running every day, and the number of direct buses will increase to 2,203 on Thursday and Friday. The service frequency ranges from three minutes to sixty minutes.

RTA Director General and Chairman of the Executive Board Mattar Mohammed Al Tayer confirmed that RTA is ready to deploy 203 buses. These buses have high safety and luxury standards, as well as comfortable seats. They comply with Euro 6 low-carbon emission standards and are the first of their kind in the Middle East and North Africa. By deploying these high-quality buses in a wide geographic coverage area, RTA strives to make public transportation an ideal travel option for Expo visitors.
Expo Shuttle Service
Al Tayer explained that RTA will also provide two additional services for visitors to Expo 2020 Dubai. The first service is the Expo parking lot shuttle, which transports visitors from the parking lot to the three Expo gates (opportunity, mobility and sustainability).
RTA allocated 57 buses for this service, running 1,191 daily from Saturday to Wednesday, and 1,377 daily on Thursday and Friday. The service frequency is three to seven minutes.
The second service is Expo People Mover, which is used to transport tourists between the Expo gates. RTA has allocated 15 buses for this service, running 310 times a day from Saturday to Wednesday, and 350 times on Thursday and Friday. A total of 12 additional spare buses have also been allocated.
RTA has previously announced plans to transport tourists from different emirates to Expo 2020. The plan identified nine locations in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Sharjah, Fujairah, Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah.
The service has a total of 77 buses allocated and runs 193 times a day throughout the week, with an increase of 213 times a day on Thursday and Friday.
Nine bus stops for tourists
Al Tayer explained that the RTA has allocated 57 buses, operating between 455 and 476 a day to commute Expo 2020 visitors from different locations in Dubai. The RTA has identified nine stations to provide services for visitors to and from the Expo.
>> The first stop is Palm Jumeirah. From Saturday to Wednesday, 6 buses run 54 times in both directions every day, and 57 times in both directions every day on Thursday and Friday. The service frequency is 15 minutes.
>> The second stop is Al Baraha, where there are 7 buses that run 62 times a day in both directions from Saturday to Wednesday, and 68 times a day in both directions on Thursday and Friday. The service frequency is 30 minutes.
>> The third station is Al Ghubaiba, which is characterized by a combination of multiple public transportation methods such as subway, public bus, sea transportation and taxis. A total of 12 buses are allocated, which run 74 times in both directions every day from Saturday to Wednesday, and 76 times in both directions every day on Thursday and Friday. The service frequency is 15 minutes.
>> The fourth station is Etisalat, next to the Etisalat Metro Station on the Green Line. From Saturday to Wednesday, as many as 8 buses run 70 times in both directions every day, and 72 times a day in both directions on Thursday and Friday.
>> The fifth stop is Global Village, where three buses are allocated and run 10 times a day on all working days. The service frequency is 60 minutes.
>> The sixth and seventh stops are International City and Dubai Silicon Oasis respectively. Eight buses are allocated to two stations, with 78 two-way operations every day from Saturday to Wednesday, and 82 two-way operations every day on Thursday and Friday. The service frequency is 15 minutes.
>> The eighth stop is Dubai Mall, where there are five buses running 55 in both directions every day from Saturday to Wednesday, and 59 in both directions every day on Thursday and Friday. The service frequency is 30 minutes.
>> The ninth stop is Dubai International Airport, where there are 8 buses, which run 52 times a day in both directions, 7 days a week. The service frequency is 20 minutes.
