Farnek wins $97m facilities management contract in first half

UAE-based smart and green facility management (FM) company Farnek has secured a significant number of new and retained contracts worth more than AED356 million (US$97 million) in the first six months of 2023.

Farnek has secured a total of 69 contracts, an average of 11 per month, and in total will mobilize more than 1,450 employees to sites across the UAE, with 65% of projects in Dubai, 18% in Abu Dhabi and 17% in Abu Dhabi. % are located in the Northern Emirates.

Farnek also serves a broad range of industry sectors including energy, security, aviation, hospitality, retail and residential real estate.

Its senior officials said the scope of work included a large number of overall facilities management contracts as well as specialized hard and soft services such as M&E, cleaning, maintenance, security and housekeeping.

“Farnek has always focused on innovative, technology-driven and sustainable FM solutions. This strategy has supported the growth of our business and maintained our competitive advantage in the market, culminating in these major contracts,” said its CEO, Markus Oberlin said.

He noted that the company has been particularly successful in the hospitality sector, winning contracts for housekeeping, maintenance and security for the SLS Residences in Dubai’s Business Bay, the five-star Sofitel The Palm, and the luxury Anantara hotels in Palm Jumeirah and World Islands .

On the manpower front, Farnek’s hotel business has grown 55 percent since the start of the year, he added.

Notable contracts won by Oberlin include cleaning and maintenance of Expo City, a hard service contract for the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in Abu Dhabi, and TFM for ExecuJet, the Dubai-based aviation services company, and the Dubai Police, Oberlin said.

However, the most prestigious contract awarded to Farnek has to be the renewal of its three-year MEP hard services contract for the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest tower, which has been held by Farnek since 2010, he added.– trade arab news agency
