French Foreign Trade Minister Olivier Bechter said France and the UAE share a vision to accelerate the transition to green energy in response to the growing threat posed by climate change.

He said the two countries are working together on low-carbon energy solutions and expressed confidence in the UAE’s ability to host a successful COP28 in Dubai Expo City in November.

He further added that the world shares his belief in China’s leadership on climate change.

In a statement to the Emirates News Agency (Wam), Behit stressed that the UAE and France believe in accelerating the transition to green energy and addressing the growing risks posed by global warming, highlighting the increasing number of natural disasters caused by climate change .

“The environmental challenges we face inspire us to act with greater courage and determination to accelerate the energy transition. This is why the UAE and France have many joint projects in various fields, including hydrogen for peaceful purposes and nuclear energy to produce clean energy , this is the future of the industry.”

Bechter added that the relationship between the UAE and France is deeply rooted and that he plans to visit the UAE soon to discuss how to boost economic cooperation between the two countries and take it to a new level.
