Free hotel stays, student scholarships, new job portals: How UAE businesses are stepping up to aid stranded Ukrainians – News

People from the Eastern European country were stranded in the UAE a year ago when Russia launched a military attack on Ukraine.

However, UAE businesses have stepped up to help tourists unable to return to Ukraine due to the hospitality of the country’s residents.

Here are three ways how they can reach out:

1. Free hotel stay

In a statement to the Khaleej Times, an official spokesperson for the Ras Al Khaleej Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) said the authority “provides guests staying in Ras Al Khaimah with full board accommodation, including meals and other amenities.”

2. New portal for job opportunities for stranded Ukrainians

A new portal launched for Ukrainian nationals stranded in the UAE they can apply for jobsSimilarly, employers in the UAE can post job openings for Ukrainians stranded after the outbreak of war.

adeccojobsforukraine.com, launched by the Adecco Group, allows employers in the UAE to list jobs open only to Ukrainians. These positions will only appear on the platform after being verified by the team at Adecco, a global talent consulting and solutions company.

In addition, the platform offers advice, online training modules on resume writing, links to job search and resources to help them find housing, and government websites explaining local labor market regulations.

3. Student Scholarship Program

Of these, 14 students participated in the GMU-Ukraine student exchange program, 9 students participated in the exchange program, and 5 students were eligible for free seats in medicine.

Excited students accepted to the university said they learned about the GMU scholarship program through a report in the Khaleej Times.
