ABU DHABI, 24th February, 2023 (WAM) — AD Ports Group has expanded this year’s ‘Innovation Week’ for both internal staff and the public. Innovation Week is an annual festival to promote breakthrough creativity and advanced technological capabilities, in line with the UAE’s National Innovation Strategy and part of the Group’s ongoing efforts to enhance Abu Dhabi’s status as a global innovation hub.
Launching on 20 February 2023, AD Ports Group’s ‘Innovation Agenda’ offers exciting virtual virtual world events, the latest cutting-edge technology under the themes of ‘Environmental Sustainability’, ‘Internationalization’ and ‘Operational Excellence’ and an inspiring series of presentations from top experts in the event industry.
Innovation Week 2023 kicked off with a fireside chat, featuring experts from AD Ports Group and Microsoft Corporation on “The Future of Work – Artificial Intelligence Agents.” Viewers gained valuable insight into the opportunities and challenges that artificial intelligence (AI) will bring to all global organizations and their employees. Conversations help to further understanding of key issues in the rapidly changing world of artificial intelligence.
For the second year in a row, AD Ports Group’s Innovation Week hosts an Innovation Hackathon, encouraging employees to collaborate creatively to design solutions to current and future business challenges, culminating in recommendations to the Group’s key decision makers.
A key highlight of Innovation Week was the launch of the first-of-its-kind AI modeling tool. Powered by AD Ports Innovation, the app enables architects, designers and facility management professionals to adopt more sustainable energy management methods in the construction and maintenance of buildings and warehouses. The state-of-the-art application, available online to all global stakeholders, is designed with an easy-to-use interface and will calculate estimated energy savings from the use of advanced climate coatings.
Throughout the innovation week, AI innovation experts provided the group’s engineers and technicians with hands-on self-driving truck training to equip them with theoretical and practical knowledge on the topic. These activities are in line with AD Ports Group’s innovation strategy, which aims to maximize automation in port operations by increasing the adoption of self-driving technology.
