Day three of the Modon Abu Dhabi Padel Master saw an incredible round of 16 as the world’s top male and female players battled it out to confirm their place in the quarter-finals.

Newly formed Spanish women’s duo Jessica Castro and Claudia Jansen knocked out defending Danish Open champions Marta Ortega and Villagonzale in a match that lasted nearly 2.5 hours S, making them the highest-seeded team eliminated so far (3).

Successes of 4/6, 6/4, 6/3 saw the Outsiders (23rd and 21st respectively) play their first quarter-final together, where they will face defeat to Caldera/Goenaga Alayeto twins duo – 7/6, 6/1.

On Center Court in the morning, women’s title favorites Alejandra Salazar Bengochea and Gemma Triai Pons let fellow Spaniard Marta Talavan Ruiz, ranked No. and Lorena Rufo-Ortiz in trouble, topping the list at 6/4 and 6/4 respectively.

On the men’s side, Jeranimo Gonzalez Luque and Alejandro Ruiz Granados lost 3/6, 6/0, 4-6 to Antonio Fernandez Cano and Jose Antonio Garcia Diestro in three sets

Elsewhere, world No. 3s Fernando Belasteguin and Carlos Daniel Gutierrez advanced to the next round 6/4, 6/4, while Ivan Ramírez Del Campo and Pablo Cardona Huerta caused a major upset, knocking out the No. The high duo of Javier Garrido Gomez and Federico Chingotto.

In the final game of the day, longtime world champion and fan favorite Alejandro Garland and Juan LeBlanc engaged in a tight match, dropping the first set before losing the first set. In just over two hours, they reversed and defeated the Yangguas/Arroyo combination, showing their strength and finally scored 3/6, 6/3, 6/2.
