The interior decoration and renovation industry in the GCC is expected to grow steadily over the next few years, with the market set to reach USD 5.2 billion by 2025, mainly due to a booming population, increasing urbanization, and growing construction and real estate industries, an early release said. A report says Index 2023 Dubai Expo.

As the leading event for the interior design, renovation and construction industry, Index 2023 will see top companies explore the future of the multi-billion dollar interior and renovation market from May 23-25.

The regional interior decoration and renovation industry is expected to grow 5% annually over the next five years. The forecast comes from the latest Index: Interiors business outlook report produced by dmg events, organizers of the three-day exhibition.

The outlook shows optimistic forecasts for the GCC industry due to the region’s growing population, increasing urbanization, growing construction and real estate industries, and the need for sustainable and environmentally friendly designs that drive innovation in the industry.

The UAE is the largest interior design market in the GCC region, followed by Saudi Arabia and Qatar, according to an expert.

“Exciting times are ahead for interior design services in the GCC,” commented Elaine O’Connell, Vice President Design and Hospitality at dmg events.

“Our outlook report also identifies some of the key challenges facing the industry, including the shift towards sustainability, digital transformation and e-commerce growth, which will be addressed by industry leaders at the May event, which is why we will explore sexual knowledge traits built into the index profile,” O’Connell noted.

The show also features Index Design Talks, a series of open and lively discussions between many leading design personalities, including inspiring interior designers, renowned regional architects and brilliant creative thinkers, who will discuss the latest trends and innovations. More than 17,500 professionals are expected to attend the three-day event.

“Index is more than an exhibition. It provides knowledge for the transformation of architectural spaces now and in the future. It is a destination event, showcasing the latest, best and widest range of global products, designs and technologies under one roof,” O’Connell Er pointed out.

“We will also support the region as a home for manufacturers, Middle Eastern design, Emirati designers, forward-thinking Giga projects, innovative hospitality projects and interiors,” he added.

Index is a design showcase covering the entire industry ecosystem, with dedicated exhibition sections for outdoor furniture, interior fittings, decorative lighting and accessories, furniture, furniture and textiles, surfaces and flooring, kitchens and bathrooms, bedrooms and art.

Some of the leading global brands identified include emerging manufacturers and regional distributors such as Sanipex, Pan Emirates, Ligne Roset, Floorworld, Al Mina Marble and Gautier.

Esra Lemmens, founder of Esra Lemmens Agency and chair of Design Talks, said: “The UAE is an international playground, with big names in IT, fashion and lifestyle, but also deep historical roots and a progressive, modern outlook and design. The talks sessions at Index are the perfect venue to educate and engage with like-minded individuals in the interior design industry.”

“My ambition is to build relationships that reflect this perception of our country and its thriving creative industries,” he noted.

Cutting-edge insights from Retail Leadership Forum experts will further explore industry challenges and opportunities.

“The Forum is a dedicated meeting for senior retail buyers and leaders seeking specialized intelligence and critical discussion,” O’Connell explained.

“With more and more retail buyers attending the show, it’s time to meet the demand for knowledge at a pivotal time for business. Retail leaders and buyers will learn about the latest consumer trends, logistics strategies and detailed sourcing techniques,” he added.

A highlight of this year’s Expo will be the inaugural Index Student Competition, a national collegiate challenge to support the next generation of architects and designers, O’Connell revealed.

Joining Index and Workspace are The Hotel Show and Leisure Show, four powerful and impactful design-driven events that will span the entire interior ecosystem, helping attendees connect with individuals from a variety of industries.

He added: “Held side-by-side, the shows form a powerful quartet of information, products, services and supplies to inform the wider hospitality and leisure industry, meaning visitors can make the most of their time, exhibiting Businesses can network and tap new partnerships and collaboration opportunities.” .
