Gitex: Humans outperform robots in customer service

At the ongoing Gitex Global event, staff and volunteers play a crucial role in providing human touch amid the technology and AI highlights. They wear shirts with phrases like ‘Ask me’ and ‘How can I help?’ and carry poles to give directions.

They distribute materials, assist with printing IDs, and even wear flower bouquets on their heads to catch visitors’ attention.

Despite the prominence of robots and technology, it’s the human staff and volunteers who excel in understanding visitors’ needs, offering real-time assistance, and making personal connections. Kenneth, an expatriate from Nigeria, emphasizes the satisfaction of helping visitors navigate the vast exhibition space with over 6,000 exhibitors

These human ambassadors provide a friendly and personal touch that machines cannot replicate, enhancing the overall experience for diverse visitors from around the world. Mary from Ukraine highlights the benefits of socializing with people from various cultural backgrounds. Strong communication, customer service skills, and patience are essential qualities for this role, ensuring that visitors are safe, happy, and comfortable during their visit.
