GMG, a global wellness company that retails, distributes and manufactures a range of leading brands, has opened four new plants to produce value-added food products.
The UAE-based conglomerate has also announced plans for the global expansion of its six food brands, aiming to reach international markets on four continents within the next five years, making the UAE an exporter of value-added food.
Mohammad A Baker, GMG Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, emphasized that these state-of-the-art facilities will enable GMG to expand its contribution to the UAE’s National Food Security Strategy 2051 and the ‘Made in the UAE’ initiative. It will also help strengthen the country’s global position as a food exporter.
Each of the three food processing plants at GMG’s Dubai Investment Park (DIP) facility adds approximately 9,000 metric tons per annum of installed capacity to its existing capacity, bringing the site’s total installed capacity to approximately 35,000 metric tons per annum.
The company’s new fourth factory in Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA) has a capacity of 11,000 metric tons of herbs and spices, including the processing of single spices, crushed spices, powdered spices and spice blends.
The DIP facility includes a variety of manufacturing capabilities, from slaughter to meat, poultry and seafood products. Collectively, these factories rank among the largest food production facilities in the UAE. Its herb and spice factory in JAFZA includes processing of single spices in complete form, crushed and powdered, as well as blended spices. GMG’s high-quality herbs and spices will be marketed under the “Sapora” and “RUH” brands.
Baker added: “From market analysis, customer research, brand development, and supported by a strong R&D department, GMG today operates a cutting-edge food manufacturing facility, making the company a true industrial powerhouse. For 45 years, GMG has been a A trusted partner in the food service and retail industry, committed to providing our consumers with high-quality, nutritious food. Today, with the launch of our four state-of-the-art food manufacturing facilities, we are proud to support ‘Made in the UAE ‘ initiative while demonstrating our commitment to quality and the global standards for which the country is renowned.”
The production lines of GMG’s DIP factory are interchangeable and customizable to meet current and future customer needs. Built with state-of-the-art machinery sourced from Europe and the United States, these lines allow GMG to envision a more sustainable manufacturing future while leading new initiatives in global markets.
GMG’s herb and spice factory is equipped with a fully automatic seed/spice washing line that goes through a five-stage washing process to ensure that the final product is 99.9% free of contaminants. The factory grinds the spices using liquid nitrogen at -1950C to preserve the maximum aroma, making it stand out from the competition.
The GMG food division has grown considerably over the past forty years, from a small butcher shop in 1977 to a leading distributor and manufacturer of some of the world’s most popular food brands. GMG Foods oversees its own brands such as Farm Fresh, Klassic, Sapora, Noor Al Islami, RUH, Chef’s Choice and Quality 1st Choice.
In September 2022, GMG opened its second largest fully automated Himalayan pink salt production facility in the world. Located in Meena, Jebel Ali, Dubai, the facility has a capacity of 70,000 tonnes and can produce 200,000 kg of premium Himalayan pink salt per day.
The GMG food division now includes six modern factories, a research and development kitchen and a food laboratory. The facilities cover six product lines: Meat, Seafood, Himalayan Pink Salt, Herbs and Spices, Cold Cuts and Sausages, and Butchery and Curing. – trade arab news agency
