Hot temperatures force Midland entertainment venues to get creative

[ad_1]

Temperatures in Midland had topped 100 degrees last week, and community members were sweating profusely and trapped indoors. For outdoor venues, that means finding a way to encourage people in the Midlands to brave the heat when they attend concerts, events and more.

The Destination is a popular venue Thursday through Saturday, with a range of musical events every weekend. Although the show didn’t start until evening and many seating areas were covered, the excessive heat forced the Salazars to come up with creative solutions.

“The first day of summer has hit us hard. The heat has definitely been an issue and we’ve put in cooling measures to help. We’ve got a lot of fans in a lot of places and just bought some more this weekend, four There are two large EVAP coolers located on the patio area and stage, as well as awnings, tree umbrellas and canopies,” says owner Martin Salazar.

At RockHounds Ballpark, 51 years of baseball play in the scorching heat of West Texas has made the staff and staff experts at keeping guests safe. General manager Monty Hoppel spoke to The Telegraph about the precautions RockHounds employees are taking.

“The nice thing about this pitch is that when it comes to game time, almost every part is in the shade, and we have a lot of cover under the concourse. We have this huge RO jug — it has 10 nozzles — and people can take it at any time during the game. Walk over and refill for free,” Hoppel explained.

During last week’s home games, Hopper said the hot weather had little impact on crowd attendance, but the Midlands team continued to put on a strong showing for their home side.

“It’s been a little hotter than normal, but we’ve been through that in July and August, and I think people know to stay hydrated. But it’s amazing that people have stuck with it,” Hopper said.
