Iconic Yas Marina Circuit hosts World Triathlon Championships series Abu Dhabi cheer

ABU DHABI: The Abu Dhabi Sports Council has announced the official race route for the Abu Dhabi World Triathlon Championships series hosted by Dammam, with Yas Marina Circuit chosen as the venue. The medals of the contestants have also been revealed.

The season opener will take place on March 3-4, when the world’s best professional and amateur triathletes will challenge themselves at one of Abu Dhabi’s iconic sports destinations, when the prestigious event will Return to the home of the Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix.

The event will attract thousands of local, regional and international triathletes and features 15 competition categories including elite men’s and women’s, elite disabled and age groups, juniors and competitions for determined athletes .

The race begins with a swim in the turquoise waters of Yas Marina, surrounded by spectacular mega yachts and luxury yachts, against the stunning backdrop of W Abu Dhabi and the famous motorsport circuit. Known on the world triathlon circuit, this swim route is one of the most beautiful of the season.

Once the swim is complete, triathletes will have the unique opportunity to tackle the same lines that Formula 1 drivers face when they ride around the track. The cycling class is described by race organizers as “a skill level that inspires experienced triathletes looking for a challenge, while also being great for beginners”. The stands will also be open so fans can cheer on their favorite triathletes as they circle the track.

The final leg of the race will be the all-important run to the finish line, with the flat track offering the opportunity to set personal best times in front of thousands of spectators.

The 2023 Abu Dhabi World Triathlon Championships series medals have also been revealed and will be awarded to all competitors who complete the race. In addition, podium medals will be awarded on stage to the top three finishers in each age category.

Designed in the UAE, at the center of the medal is the “World Triathlon” globe, with three vertex elements representing the nine dynamic balance points common to all triathletes: swim-bike-run, mind-body-soul, earth-air- water. The Earth is surrounded by three rotating orbits, symbolizing how these elements fit together harmoniously.

In addition to watching triathletes go head-to-head, people can also visit the Events Village where they won’t be short of options for entertainment and activities. Located in the Formula 1 pit lane, the Free Entry Village will feature a variety of F&B outlets, a children’s play area, sponsor booths, a race-perfect viewing deck and an official merchandise store.

The World Triathlon Championships series in Abu Dhabi has attracted some of the biggest names in triathlon. In the men’s division, the top 10 triathletes will compete, with French world number one and world champion Leo Bergere leading the star roster.

In the women’s division, world No. 2 Georgia Taylor-Brown will be the No. 1 athlete, along with six other top-10 triathletes in the world, including world No. 3 Taylor-Brown of the United States. Spivey.
