“It Feels Like a Collective Failure When Films Led by Women Don’t Succeed,” Says Priyanka Chopra Jonas

 Priyanka Chopra Jonas expressed her concerns about the pressure and collective responsibility associated with the success of female-led films, emphasizing the importance of such films thriving in the film industry.

Challenges of Female-Led Films

During a conversation with Bhumi Pednekar at the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival 2023, Priyanka discussed the challenges faced by female-centric movies, especially when there are so few of them. She stated, “When a female-led film doesn’t do well, I feel the collective failure on behalf of all women. I feel we have taken them a few steps back.”

Priyanka Chopra also reflected on her role in the film “Fashion” and how it influenced her career and passion for acting. Despite early skepticism, she pursued the project, and it eventually became a significant milestone in her career.
