Low’s Mimi Parker battles ovarian cancer at 55 Entertainment

[ad_1]

Bass drummer and singer Mimi Parker has died at 55 after battling ovarian cancer.

The musician’s husband and bandmate Alan Sparhawk confirmed the sad news over the weekend.

A tweet on the rock band’s official page read: “Friends, it’s hard to express the universe in words and texts, but she passed away last night surrounded by family and love, including yours.

“Keep her name close and holy. Share this moment with those who need you. Love really is what counts.”

The couple formed Low in Minnesota in 1993 with former bassist John Nichols and would go on to have four different bassists.

The band released 13 studio albums, including their critically acclaimed debut, “I Can Live in Hope” in 1994.

News of Mimi’s death comes after the band was forced to cancel several concerts this year due to ill health.

Allen said on Instagram at the time: “There have been tough times, but your love has supported us and will continue to inspire us through this time.

“Our heart goes out immediately to others in a similar situation, but not so many send such a desire for love and healing. Find a loner who needs a chat and give them your time and love. We say this with tears in our eyes Thank you and hope to see you soon.”

The drummer was diagnosed in 2020 and began treatment the following year.

Alan and their children Hollis and Cyrus survived Mimi.
