In the first two weeks of participating in Expo 2020 Dubai, companies from Malaysia and multiple countries generated more than RM7.2 billion in business leads.
This total potential trade and investment comes from 14 memorandums of understanding (MoUs), three letters of intent (LoI) and two memoranda of cooperation (MoCs) between 14 Malaysian companies and their foreign counterparts.
These foreign companies are located in China, Egypt, India, Iran, Oman, Qatar, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates and the United States of America.
The memorandum of understanding covers blockchain and the Internet of Things, oil and gas, freshwater aquatic biological robots and automated hatcheries, as well as biotechnology research, entrepreneurship in technology-intensive industries; consulting services; technology transfer and training for drone solutions; heat and Ultrasonic technology, as well as R&D and herbal extraction technology.
At the same time, LoI and MoC cover the manufacturing of 1,000 green smart home modular units; exclusive distribution ships for unmanned surface vessels; artificial intelligence (AI)-driven agricultural systems, and predictive maintenance of project solutions.
This is a positive result of Malaysia’s participation in the Expo in the first two weeks, as the country started to recover after COVID-19.
With the support of various ministries and agencies including the state government, this momentum is expected to continue in the next 25 weeks.
The Malaysia Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai is designed as a rainforest canopy with the theme of “Energetic Sustainable Development”. From October 1st to October 14th, 2021, approximately 50,000 visitors have been recorded.
Malaysia is also confident that it will surpass its 8 to 10 billion ringgit trade business leading goal in this six-month expo.
Congratulations to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) for leading the country to participate in the 2020 Dubai Expo, and the Malaysian Centre for Green Technology and Climate Change (MGTC) as the project’s implementing agency.
