Can you walk us through your professional journey, highlighting key milestones shaping your career?
My name is Ahmad Enezan, and I currently work as a Public Relations and Development Manager at Salem Al-Shueibi Jewellery in the UAE. I started my journey with the organization in 2015 as a salesman and gradually moved to the Inventory Management Department. Later, I joined the Marketing Department and eventually supervised part of the Accounting Department.
Currently, I hold the position of Public Relations and Development Manager, a role that I assumed almost four years ago. I am happy to share some of the critical milestones that have shaped my career so far.
What was the driving force behind your decision to join this sector?
Life presented me with challenges when I was a promising university student devoted to my studies. Due to the political changes in my home country of Syria, I had to leave my academic pursuits and transition to the workforce in the Emirates. However, my eagerness to acquire new skills and be part of a thriving financial sector, such as the jewelry industry, spurred me to accept a job offer.
Who or what has been your most significant influence or mentor in your career?
For me, my father has always been my first teacher. In addition, the rejection I faced from my colleagues in the company due to differences in age and experience had a significant impact on my personality, shaping me into who I am today.
How would you describe the evolution of your sector in the context of the UAE in the past few years?
In the past few years, the sector in the UAE has undergone a noticeable and steady development. This can be attributed to the fact that the Gulf countries, particularly the UAE, have gained global attention across various industrial, commercial, and tourism sectors.
This is primarily due to the insecurity and unfavorable economic conditions in some influential countries, such as the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine or the financial instability in America. Additionally, the state has provided numerous incentives and facilities to promote and develop multiple sectors, further boosting the industry’s growth.
In your opinion, what are the qualities that make a successful leader in your field?
Many factors contribute to success in this field, but patience is the most critical factor. Patience is required in all stages of work, including choosing work teams, determining the work method, facing problems, and making decisions to solve them. Ultimately, success is not just about reaching the goal but also about being patient until the destination is reached.
How has your organization responded to the ongoing digital revolution and technology-driven changes?
Ignoring the digital process and technological changes is no longer an option. Any sector, company, or individual that refuses to keep pace with the wheel of development is destined to fail. Companies must make the right decisions and keep up with technological advancements, whether in industry, marketing, or management. Although we might not fully utilize technology, we must learn to deal with it adequately.
Can you share with me your most memorable moment in your professional career? Also, what is the best professional advice that you have ever received?
For me, every triumphant moment is unforgettable. However, the most beautiful of all was when I became a part of the Guinness Book of World Records as the project manager for the most prominent jewelry display in the world, comprising 50,000 pieces of jewelry. Regarding the best advice I have ever received, it is the same advice I have given before, which is patience. Patience is the key to achieving success.
What advice would you give to someone just starting in your field? we asked Ahmad Enezan.
If you’re starting in any new field, my advice would be to love what you do until you do what you love. When I was appointed marketing manager, I had yet to gain experience in this field. I wasn’t even present on social networking sites and didn’t own a television. However, I realized that to succeed, I needed to engage in new experiences. I decided to learn more about this area, which eventually resulted in significant growth for the organization and my personal development.
