Muslim expats can sponsor 2 wives at the same time; here’s everything you need to know

Abu Dhabi: Muslims living in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) can sponsor two wives at the same time, local media reported, according to the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP).

Sponsors must meet certain terms and conditions stipulated by the ICP.

according to Digital Government in the UAEEligible Muslim expatriates can obtain residence visas for two wives and their children.

According to the Arab daily Khaleejto sponsor a wife, the expatriate must prove the existing marriage relationship by submitting a marriage certificate certified in Arabic or officially translated into Arabic by an accredited translator.

A foreign father can sponsor his unmarried daughters, regardless of their age, and his sons until they reach the age of 25.

People with special needs can receive sponsorship without age restrictions.

Expats can also provide residence visas for stepchildren, subject to the conditions of the GDRFA, which include a deposit for each child and a written no-objection certificate from the biological parents.

With regard to sponsoring newborns, the father must obtain a residence permit within 120 days of the baby’s birth to avoid any fines.

  • Copies of passports of wife and children
  • photos of wife and children
  • Proof of customs clearance for wife and children over 18 years old
  • Copy of husband’s labor contract or company contract
  • Salary certificate from employer showing husband’s monthly salary
  • notarized marriage certificate
  • Proven lease agreement.
