Nature Fest returns to Bridgeland on October 29

Network lunch:
Cy-Fair Express Network will be hosting a luncheon at Springhill Suites by Marriott on Northwest Freeway on October 27th at 11am. Advance tickets are $30 or $35 at the door.

This month’s speaker is Denise Hamilton, CEO of WatchHerWork, a digital learning platform for working women. She also leads workshops, designs educational programs, and mentors senior leaders on diversity, inclusion, and how to be an ally.

Fall Festivals:
The 51st annual Famous Street Fall Festival will be held October 28-29 at St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church in Houston from 9 am to 4 pm. Admission and parking are free.

The event offers fun for the whole family, with a variety of “shops” offering second-hand items such as books, toys and treasures, as well as handmade gifts and holiday decorations. The event includes food trucks, live music, a 5K Family Fun Run, live broadcasts and motorcycle blessings. Proceeds benefit the church’s community outreach ministry and the Homeless Hope Center.

Haunted “Fire” House:
The Spring Fire Station is hosting a haunted “Fire” at its Spring Fire Station 75 on October 28-29 from 6:30-9:30 pm. Admission is a $5 donation to the Spring Firefighters Assistance Fund.

Then, on Halloween, Oct. 31, all nine spring firehouses will be hosting trucks or treats, giving costumed kids the chance to meet firefighters and view trucks on display at night.

October 29

Caracas and Cocktails:
The Calacas & Cocktails event at City Place on October 29 from 6-9pm will feature a Margarita Cash Bar, live music and a candlelight parade. Admission is free, but a $30 expanded experience is available.

The expanded experience includes two signature cocktails, Katrina face painting, flower crowns and a parade candle kit. The party on the City Place terrace features mojigangas leading up to a traditional altar.

Fall Festivals:
Magnolia’s Living Stone Church will host its fall festival and auto show on October 29th from 10am-2pm. Admission is free. Showing a car at the show is $30.

The event includes games, pumpkin painting, bounce house, bake sale, costume contest and luggage or treats. The car show for church youth groups is judged at noon.

Halloween Ball:
St. Ignatius Women’s Club will be hosting a Halloween Ball on October 29th from 7-10pm, hosted by DJ Terry Parker. Admission, dinner and two drinks for ages 21 and older are $50 in advance and $55 on-site.

The dance features a costume contest, but costumes are optional. The event raises funds for the Women’s Club.

Festival:
Bridgeland will be hosting its 14th annual Nature Festival at Oak Meadow Park on October 29th from 10am-4pm. Admission is free, but some events may require a small fee.

The star of this year’s event is well-known zookeeper and wildlife educator Jungle Jordan. The event also includes pony rides, a petting zoo, nature exhibits, laser tagging, and more. The event benefits Cy-Hope, a local organization dedicated to bringing hope and opportunity to every child in the Cy-Fair area.

October 31st

Trunks or Treats:
Tomball United Methodist Church will be hosting a Halloween Trunk or Treat on October 31st from 6-7pm. Admission is free.

The drive-through event features fun, costumes and lots of treats.

November 3

Marty Haggard:
Singer-songwriter Marty Haggard will perform at Tomball’s Main Street Crossing on November 3rd at 7pm. Tickets start at $32.

Haggard is the son of singer-songwriter Merle Haggard, who played with The Strangers, who supported his father. He has charted five singles on the American country charts, and now he plays Christian music and pays homage to his father.

November 5

Wesley Hannah:
Texas singer-songwriter Wesley Hanna will celebrate the release of his new album on November 5th at 3pm at Magnolia’s Lone Pint Brewery.

Hannah grew up in Mulan and now lives in Fort Worth. In 2005, he started the Wesley Hanna Band while he was a college student at Texas A&M University. The new album is called Brand New Love Potion.

National Day:
Aaron Watson and Shenandoah at the 7th Annual Country Concert near Stagecoach on November 5th from 3-11pm. Online tickets start at $30.

The festival also includes performances by Daniel Holmes, Susan Hickman, Payton Howie and Cooper Wade. The campaign benefited Boots for Troops, a local nonprofit that sends care packages to deployed U.S. soldiers.

Cowboy Mouth:
New Orleans rock band Cowboy Mouth will perform at Dosey Doe The Big Barn on November 6th at 7pm.Tickets start at $78 and include a three-course meal at 5:30 p.m.

The band, led by barefoot drummer and singer Fred LeBlanc, may be best known for “Jenny Says,” a 1997 hit that local rock radio couldn’t escape.
