Abu Dhabi has announced the opening of a new community facility, Al Mes’hab Park, to encourage community members to live a healthy and active lifestyle.
Adjacent to the Abu Dhabi Police Academy, the park is a joint initiative of Abu Dhabi Police and the Department of Municipalities and Transport to celebrate traditional policing culture and heritage.
Al Mes’Hab Park has recreational facilities for all ages, including children’s play equipment and outdoor sports training equipment.
It was opened by Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office.
In the middle of the park stands a statue of a ‘saqih’ horse – one of the original Sicilian mares – owned by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Police Cavaliers The logo was designed with this in mind, a statement from the Abu Dhabi Executive Council said.
It also has a pedestal adorned with poems by Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed and poet Abu Al Tayib Al Mutannabi, praising the beauty and strength of the Arabian horse, it added.
