Muscat: National Audit Office Chairman Sheikh Ghosn Hilal Al Allawi met with Humaid Obaid Abu Hibbs, Director General of the UAE Supreme Audit Office.
The visit was carried out within the framework of promoting cooperation and exchanging experiences between the Sultanate of Oman and the United Arab Emirates, with the aim of achieving common interests between the two countries in areas such as auditing, promotion of integrity and capacity building.
Allawi highlighted the deep relationship between the two countries and underscored the institution’s eagerness to collaborate and integrate with its UAE counterparts. He added that the SAI also aims to increase the effectiveness of joint activities within the GCC National Audit, Accountability and Anti-Corruption Committee and actively participate in the international community.
Abushbus applauded the agency for its developments in the legislative and regulatory arena. He also highlighted the importance of cooperation and exchange of experience to strengthen the role of audit institutions and improve their efficiency for sustainable development.
During the visit, the two sides made several presentations, focusing on the role and tasks of the Supreme Audit Institution, the laws governing its work, the working mechanism for fulfilling various responsibilities, and the institution’s efforts in promoting integrity and anti-corruption. These presentations also illustrate SAI’s efforts in the field of training.
The visiting delegation also gave a presentation, which included a brief overview of the UAE Supreme Audit Institution and its objectives, as well as relevant aspects of information technology used in its training and development system.
In addition, the UAE Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman, Mohammad Nahira Al Daheri, was present.
