Pakistan E-Passport UAE Launch Postponed Until Further Notice
Plans for the Pakistan e-passport UAE rollout have hit a last-minute snag. The Pakistani Embassy has confirmed that the launch, originally scheduled for July 20, has been postponed “until further notice” due to unavoidable technical and administrative reasons.
In its statement, the Embassy said acceptance and processing of applications under the e-passport category will remain suspended until a new date is announced. No revised timeline has been given yet.
The good news for Pakistani nationals in the UAE: this delay doesn’t affect regular passport services. Applications for new Machine-Readable Passports (MRPs) and renewals will continue to be processed as usual, without interruption.
Once it does go live, the Pakistan e-passport UAE system will bring in chip-based, biometric passports that meet international aviation standards.
The fee structure has already been published — a standard five-year, 36-page e-passport will cost Dh145 for normal processing or Dh235 for urgent service, with higher fees for 72-page books and 10-year validity options.
For now, anyone due for a renewal should stick with the standard MRP process. The Embassy says updates will be shared through its website and official social media channels.
