Peruvian opera tenor Juan Diego Flórez to open Abu Dhabi Festival 2023

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates: Under the honorary patronage of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Founding Honorary Patron, the 20th special edition of Abu Dhabi The festival will begin on March 1, 2023 at the Emirates Palace with the performance of the renowned Peruvian tenor Juan Diego Flórez. Hosted by the Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Foundation and themed ‘The Will to Evolve’, the main event is scheduled for the first three weeks of March, featuring some of the world’s most famous performers and musicians.

Juan Diego Flórez, widely acclaimed for his mastery of the high register, will be accompanied by an orchestra in a spectacular performance of operatic arias and Latin American songs. The operatic tenor will join some of his most famous colleagues in a spectacular gala concert to celebrate the 20th anniversary special edition of the Abu Dhabi Music Festival.

The Peruvian opera star will perform a captivating repertoire of opera arias in the first part of the concert, accompanied by Italian pianist Vincenzo Scalera. Flórez dedicated the second half of the concert program to popular Latin American music from Peru, Mexico, Venezuela and Argentina. Accompanied by an instrumental ensemble of piano, guitar, trumpet and percussion conducted by Jonathan Bolívar, the renowned tenor’s stirring performance featured a beautiful song repertoire that transported him to the world The famous bel canto was adapted into music close to his heart.

The festival is also supported by its main partner, Mubadala.
