Resumption of direct flight service from Kolkata to Abu Dhabi

[ad_1]

Kolkata: Kolkata Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport (NSCBI) announced on Sunday that Etihad Airways has resumed direct flight services from Kolkata to Abu Dhabi.

A Kolkata airport official revealed that Etihad Airways will operate flights between NSCBI airport, Kolkata and Abu Dhabi international airports four times a week on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday.

On the day of the inaugural flight, 126 passengers traveled from Kolkata Airport to Abu Dhabi. The number of passengers arriving from Abu Dhabi on March 26, 2023 is 152.

An Airbus A320 aircraft will operate the route, the sources said. An airport official said the plane would take off from Kolkata at 21:05 pm and arrive in Kolkata from Abu Dhabi at 20:10 pm. According to reports, the flight will offer eight business class seats and 150 economy class seats. Etihad Airways has withdrawn operations from Kolkata following the Covid outbreak. Last month, Abu Dhabi Airways, one of the low-cost airlines, announced the launch of a new direct route between Kolkata and the UAE capital Abu Dhabi.

There is a limited number of flights on international routes departing from Kolkata. So far, there are no direct flights between Kolkata and Europe or even the US; an oft-raised claim. As there are no direct flights to the city, passengers flying from Kolkata to Europe or the US and passengers traveling to Kolkata from these destinations will need to make a stopover in Delhi, Mumbai, Dubai, Doha, Abu Dhabi or Singapore.
