The secretary blinked: good afternoon everyone. As always, welcome to Sheikh Abdullah to the State Department, back to the State Department. We have the closest cooperation with the UAE on a wide range of regional and global issues. The UAE is a close strategic partner of the United States. We are working together to advance the cause of regional peace, stability and security. We do great work outside of the region and of course we are very much looking forward to the UAE hosting the next COP and the important work we are doing together.
So there’s always a lot to talk about, but welcome, my friends. Nice to have you here.
Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed: Secretary Blinken, it’s great to be back in Washington. As I said, thanks for fixing the weather. (Laughter) As you know, we haven’t fully adapted to the cold weather here in the UAE. In fact, it felt like home; it was warm.
I must say I’m happy to be back and happy to have reduced COVID restrictions and hope there won’t be ones in the future. But I must say, we have a wonderful and diverse relationship with the United States, and we should be proud of all that we have achieved together as a government and as a people. Looking at all of our relationships, we’re in a great place. Hope we can achieve more together. Thanks.
