Lahore: Pakistan Cricket Board Governing Board Chairman Najam Sethi will attend the opening ceremony of the International League T20 in UAE.
The first ILT20 will kick off on January 13 with 6 franchises. He will present Pakistan’s position on hosting the Asian Cup in 2023.
Najam Sethi will meet representatives of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) during the UAE’s participation in the International League T20 (ILT20).
According to sources, at the invitation of the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB), Sethi will travel to the UAE for the ILT20 opening ceremony on January 12.
The first ILT20 will kick off on January 13 with 6 franchises.
Sethi plans to attend the opening ceremony and some side meetings. As ACC president and BCCI secretary-general Jay Shah announced late last year, he will present Pakistan’s position on hosting the Asian Cup in 2023 after India withdrew from hosting the tournament in Pakistan.
To resolve differences, the PCB leader will meet with representatives of the ACC. Sethi will also meet representatives of the International Cricket Council (ICC) to discuss the 2025 championship trophy, which will be held in Pakistan.
It is worth noting that the 2023 Asian Cup will be held in Pakistan. But India may not visit Pakistan due to political differences between the two neighbours. The last time Pakistan hosted an Asian tournament was in 2008.
