Saudi Arabia, Riyadh: Local and international experts, government ministries and industry professionals gathered for the opening of the region’s largest entertainment and leisure trade fair, Saudi Light and Sound (SLS) Expo, which opened yesterday at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Opened by Majed AL Hukair, CEO of Al Hokair Group, SLS Expo not only showcased the latest event technology, professional lighting design, AV and audio innovations in the field, but also mapped the future of the industry in Saudi Arabia.
“We hope that there will be a large number of experts and others among the visitors, with a rich session in all disciplines, and we hope that this exhibition will help create a transformation in the entertainment industry in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” said Al Hukair, at SLS After the opening of the expo, it will be held in the same place as the Saudi Entertainment and Entertainment Expo.

Saudi talent and the performing arts were at the heart of a summit conversation with Tahani Alghureiby, CEO of NEO Theatro Productions, and Tom-Naylor Davis, Director and Partner of Theater Projects Consultants, who both delved into the developments and challenges of performing arts in Saudi Arabia yesterday.
Six Flags Qiddiya’s Head of Entertainment and Events, Mark Reeves, and Director of Creative Production, Andrew Campbell, educated summit delegates on the importance of storytelling and narrative development to light and sound shows.
Day two of today’s summit will address the professional lighting and sound industry by focusing on current trends and future tools for interactive audience engagement, discuss the role of women in the industry, and take a closer look at two case studies: Soundstorm MDL Beast Execution by Michael Jobson, Director, and Storytelling and Design for Live Experiences in Saudi Arabia – A Country of Transformation with Daan Oomen, Founder of Live Legends, and Koert Vermeulen, Founder and Chief Designer, ACT Lighting Design.
Over the next three days, global and regional exhibitors at the show will showcase services and solutions, meet entertainment industry influencers, while networking with government officials, investors and top players in the region. In addition, the expo will showcase a variety of tools and techniques in sound engineering and design to deliver an immersive experience and give the industry an insight into the latest technologies, while emphasizing the importance of sustainability and the impact of Pro Light and Sound on the environment Impact.
Held concurrently with the Saudi Entertainment and Amusement Expo (SEA), SLS Expo brings together manufacturers, distributors, industry buyers and professionals from around the world for professional lighting and audio, digital signage, virtual, augmented, mixed reality and laser technology.
