Southern Methodist Church receives oral address from Summer Osborne in New Zealand

At the 2022 New Zealand Swimming Championships, she finished third in the 100m freestyle. She finished fourth in the 200m freestyle at this year’s Open, qualifying for New Zealand’s women’s 4x200m relay team at the World Championships in Fukuoka, Japan later this summer.






she told Swimming World:

“I am so excited to announce that I will be swimming and studying at SMU in 2024! I am so grateful to Coach Ozzie and this opportunity to swim for the Broncos. I could not have done it without the support of my family, friends and coaches One point. Bronco bar. #onhorse”

Osborne trains year-round at the North Shore Swim Club and most recently had three best finishes at the ASA Short Course Championships earlier this month.

Her first national age group title came in 2019 when she won the 100m freestyle at the New Zealand National Age Group Championships at the age of 13. At 15, she won 6 individual titles and 4 relay titles. Her 10 medals are the most by any swimmer at the competition. She has won nine events in both the 2022 and 2023 competitions.

She is undefeated in the 100m freestyle at the age group championships.

Osborne will graduate from Rangitoto College at the end of this year. Osborne swims at Rangitoto Academy and has won eight New Zealand secondary school swimming titles in the past four years. Rangitoto Academy has won the No. 1 school comprehensive ranking for three consecutive years and won the Women’s Relay Cup for two consecutive years.

She is the recipient of the 2022 Women’s Swimmer of the Year award from the University of Auckland’s Faculty of Physical Education.
