Spain hit by flash floods; cars washed away, people stranded: WATCH | World News

Heavy storms and downpours since Friday have caused flash floods in the northeastern Spanish city of Zaragoza, disrupting normal life. The downpour flooded several streets, leaving some people trapped in their cars.

Multiple videos that went viral on social media showed people clinging to roofs as their vehicles were swept away by the raging floodwaters.

While no deaths or missing persons have been reported, there has been extensive damage to property. Tram services were reportedly suspended and bus routes changed in several communities in Zaragoza affected by the rain.

Venice Park was one of the worst-affected areas in the country, with people trapped in cars, according to a warning issued by Zaragoza’s city council. Express.

Rescue operations

Spanish authorities deployed emergency services across the city, including rescue teams and ambulances. Rescue teams reportedly used ropes, as well as vertical rescue on fire brigade escalators, to help people trapped in the vehicle. Meanwhile, public assistance is also reportedly needed to rescue people in cars in the Los Enlais area.
