Spike Lee vows to tell the true story of Colin Kaepernick in his upcomnig documentary series.

The “Doing the Right Thing” filmmaker is producing a show about the former NFL star who hasn’t played in the NFL since 2016 after speaking out against racial and social injustice , and was the first on the US national anthem – sports network ESPN, who insisted he would not provide a “false narrative” during any airtime.

He told “Entertainment Tonight”: “I’m doing a multi-series documentary on Colin Kaepernick for ESPN. It’s his story, not a false narrative.”

The 65-year-old director praised Colin for staying in top form in case he gets a chance to return.

He added: “For six years, the NFL stopped him from playing.

“He still wakes up at 4 or 4:30 every morning to train, five to six days a week. So when the next call comes, he’ll be ready. He’ll be ready.”

When asked when fans could see the project, he added: “Well, it might be out before he’s on the field. [again]. “

In October last year, the 34-year-old footballer admitted he was fully prepared to return to work if he got the call.

When asked if he was ready to return to the NFL, Colin said: “Of course.

“I still get up at 5 in the morning and train five or six days a week to make sure I’m ready to lead a team to the Super Bowl again.

“It’s not something I’ll never give up, no matter what the 32 teams and their partners do to deny me employment.

“Just like the way I stuck with it in high school, I’ll stick with it here.”

The athlete wants to continue training, so his physical condition cannot be an excuse to stop him from competing.

He explained: “You’re going to have to keep denying me and do it in public. You’re going to expose yourself because of that, but it won’t be because I’m not ready or ready.

“But in that process, I also won’t let you bury my future.

“I’m going to keep working on acting and producing, keep working on knowing your rights and making sure we make an impact.

“I think that’s the beauty of our collective — we’re not one-dimensional.”
