Stephen Fry to host UK version of popular quiz show ‘Jeopardy!’


Beloved British actor, broadcaster, comedian, director and author Stephen Fry to host UK version of popular American entertainment Danger!. The show will air on ITV1 and streaming on ITVX this autumn.

“The weekday entertainment will bring back nostalgia for fans of the format, while introducing family quizzes to a whole new audience,” ITV said on Monday.

Produced by Whisper North, the contestants will use their common sense to win and stay in the 20 one-hour episodes. “The new show will allow participants to play an extra round compared to the original format, increasing the stakes for players,” ITV said. “This American classic was first shown in the UK in the 1980s, but now ITV and Stephen Fry are bringing a modern twist to this culturally iconic game show.

Speaking about hosting the show in the UK, Stephen Fry said: “In America, Jeopardy! is a phenomenon like no other. Whenever I’m in America, I do my best to catch it every weekday. The thought of hosting it here in the UK makes me giddy with joy. I hope that a quiz-focused nation like ours will welcome this unique, engaging and rewarding game.”

Katie Rawcliffe, head of entertainment at ITV, said: “Bring Jeopardy! Being part of our weekday schedule is exciting for a whole new audience. No one better hosts than Stephen This classic game show informs and entertains all of our audiences.”

Stephen John Fry (born 24 August 1957) first came to prominence in the 1980s as one half of the comedy double Fry and Laurie, starring alongside Hugh Laurie in Fry and Laurie A Little Bit of It” (1989–1995) and Jeeves and Wooster (1990-1993).
