UAE community of students, teachers, parents and triathletes mourns sudden death On Wednesday, PE teacher Miss Caina Healey was involved in a car accident.
A car hit Healy, a well-known agile figure in Abu Dhabi, who was cycling to school. The 35-year-old teacher was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
This young Irish woman is a prominent figure in the Abu Dhabi triathlon community.
In December, Keina represented the United Arab Emirates to qualify for the Triathlon World Championships held in Finland.
She was also an accomplished swimmer, Irish dancer and footballer.

Alison Milton, Ireland’s ambassador to the UAE, tweeted: “My deepest sympathy to all of the Healey family and all loved ones of Kyna. See you earlier at the signing of the condolence book It was touching to see Maureen, Lauren and her many friends…”
Ireland’s Minister of State for Special Education, Josepha Madigan, also tweeted his condolences for the deceased.
Madigan wrote: “My deepest sympathies to the Healy family on Caina’s passing. From everything I’ve heard over the past few days, Derry Teacher Caina was a valued member of the Irish community in the UAE. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam dilis.”
The Irish embassy in the UAE tweeted: “We are devastated by the loss of Caina Healey, a dear member of the Abu Dhabi community. An incredible athlete, a caring teacher and a tribute to many in the UAE. Dear friend. Caina was a shining light, but left us too soon. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
Tri Belles, the UAE’s first all-female triathlon community, said on Facebook: “Our girl gang is devastated by the sudden and unexpected death of Caina Healey this week. Caina was at the heart of Tri Belles, both on and off the course. If Whether you’re looking for a training partner or need help, she’s the kind of person you can always count on.
Caina is present in our community in many ways: she volunteers at training weekends, cheers, hosts meetings, loves to socialize and proudly wears our colors to races, all with an infectious smile and the best laughter.

The UAE Triathlon Federation mourns her passing.
The federation wrote on Facebook, “The UAE Triathlon Federation would like to express its heartfelt condolences on the sad passing of teacher Caina Healey, triathlete and Team UAE member.
Caina is an outstanding athlete who has set the bar high for female triathletes in the UAE. We remember her as a fierce competitor who always pushed herself to the limit and inspired others to do the same. Caina recently finished third in the Bahrain Half Triathlon and first in the Muscat Half Triathlon Relay and is eligible to represent the UAE at the 2023 Half Triathlon World Championships .
Cai Na was an outstanding educator whose life touched many students. Her passing is a great loss to Amity International School and the community. Her passion and dedication to education is reflected in the way she motivates and supports her students, allowing her time to go above and beyond on a regular basis. Her contributions to the school’s athletic program have been invaluable.
It is sad to think that such a kind and generous man would be taken from us so unexpectedly. Cai Na’s absence will undoubtedly be felt throughout the triathlon and education community. Yet her spirit, her legacy, and the positive impact she had on many will live on. “
