Summer fun is in full swing, and no matter where you look, there’s plenty of outdoor activities happening.

Following this weekend’s Alcott Pirates Festival, the next event on the calendar is the annual Potter Lake Summer Festival, scheduled for Saturday, July 15 in scenic POTL (off Lake Road) Dietz Road). The event is hosted by the Town of Potter.

The Summer Music Festival starts at 3pm and runs until dusk. This family-oriented event will feature food, vendors, beer/wine, and live music.

Supervisor John “Duffy” Johnston welcomes visitors for a wonderful day at the lake. Look for Skydive the Falls’ skydive show; free kids’ activities including pony rides, bounce house, balloon art, and face painting; entertainment, Rick Zachary Band on lakeside stage from 3-6 p.m., Thurman Brothers Band (Thurman Brothers Band) from 6pm until dusk; and end the day with a fireworks display.

Admission is $5 per adult, children 12 and under are free. All proceeds from this event will go to projects benefiting Porter Lake Park. The event will take place rain or shine. No coolers or carry-on items allowed.

“Every summer festival just gets bigger and better,” Johnston said. “Come support Porter on the Lake and visit the new outdoor gym!”

The town noted that the beach leading from Dietz Road to Lake Ontario will be closed to the public that day due to preparations for the fireworks display.

Porter’s Summerfest was brought to the community with the support of Modern Disposal Services, Sevenson Environmental Services Inc., Mark Cerrone Inc., Waste Management and Niagara County 1st District Legislator Irene Myers.

Other sponsors include DT Truesdell Trucking, Ki-Po Chevrolet, Hardison Funeral Home, Mawhiney Trucking, Fox Fence, CRB Holdings Inc. (Tim Hortons), Skydive the Falls, Ed’s Garage, Wendel Engineering, Weibert’s Auto Place, Congressman Brian Higgins , Senator Rob Ortt of New York, Assemblyman Angelo Morinello and Frey Electric.
