CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (Low Country Weekend) – Charleston County Parks’ popular summer fun series is back! The nine-week series at James Island and Wanamaker County Parks will begin June 14 and run through August 3.
The Summer Fun Series is just for kids and their parents or guardians, featuring a different entertainer and host each week, giving families the chance to have fun at the park. Shows take place Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Edisto Hall at James Island County Park and Thursday at 10 a.m. at Cypress Hall at Wanamaker County Park in North Charleston. Get there early for a good seat.
Admission to each show is $4 per child, or $5 on the day of the event if not sold out. This collection is suitable for children ages 4 and up. Admission is free for children 2 years and under and their guardian or parent. At least one guardian is required for every eight children. Early registration is recommended as sessions may sell out early. Registration can be made by calling 843-795-4386.

Chaz’s Magic
- Crowd favorite Chaz will confuse everyone with his amazing magic show! June 14 at James Island County Park and June 15 at Wanamaker County Park in North Charleston
South Carolina Aquarium
- Come to the South Carolina Aquarium to learn all about marine life and its habitats! Encounter some live marine invertebrates on the show too! June 21 at James Island County Park and June 22 at Wanamaker County Park in North Charleston
Insect madness!
- What has six articulated legs, a chest, and compound eyes? insect! City of Charleston educators will introduce you to the many characteristics of these creepy animals. Participants will become “human insects” and learn the difference between insects and other creepy reptiles. June 28 at James Island County Park and June 29 at Wanamaker County Park in North Charleston
birds of prey
- The Raptor Center offers exciting displays featuring birds from around the world. July 12 at James Island County Park and July 13 at Wanamaker County Park in North Charleston
Friends of Costal SC
- Watch exciting presentations about snakes, turtles and alligators living in the Lowcountry at Wannamaker County Park in North Charleston on July 20 (session on Wednesday is sold out)
Deninufay African Dance and Drum Making
- Join Deninufay African Dance & Drum Production as they pay tribute to their West African ancestors through the beauty, melody and sumptuous performance art of West African drumming and dancing. Journey with the Gullah Geechee people of the island’s shores as they begin culture and heritage through the movement, rhythm and sweet sound of their unique instruments. July 26 at James Island County Park and July 27 (limited spots!) at Wanamaker County Park in North Charleston
open circuit
- Enjoy goofy stunt and dance performances and a little comedy! The Break Circuit group will teach dance moves, rhythm and play dance games! August 2 at James Island County Park and August 3 at North Charleston Wannamaker County Park
