“Sunday Marathon Prompts Road Closures in Dubai; Timings Announced”-1

Sunday Marathon In preparation for the Dubai Marathon, several roads in Dubai, particularly in the Umm Suqeim and Jumeirah areas, are set to experience closures from the early hours of Sunday until 1 pm. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) confirmed this arrangement to Khaleej Times on Friday.

Event Details and Marathon Route Map Shared by RTA

The Dubai Marathon is scheduled to take place from 6 am until 1 pm, and while full details of road closures are yet to be officially announced, it is anticipated that affected roads will include sections of Umm Suqeim Street, Jumeirah Beach Road, and Al Wasl Road. The RTA shared a video of the marathon route map on Twitter, providing insights into the 2024 edition of the first and oldest international marathon in the Middle East.

Key Marathon Features and Participant Categories: Sunday Marathon

Commencing and concluding on Umm Suqeim Road near Dubai Police Academy, the marathon covers a distance of 42.195 km, offering runners the opportunity to traverse Jumeirah Beach Road and pass iconic landmarks such as the Burj Al Arab and Madinat properties. Alongside the competitive marathon, elite and amateur runners will participate in the 10 km category, and there is a 4 km fun run designed for beginners and hobbyists.

Dubai Marathon 2024: A Global Event Sanctioned by the Dubai Sports Council: Sunday Marathon

Sanctioned by the Dubai Sports Council, the 2024 Dubai Marathon is expected to draw significant participation from international top athletes, rising stars, and debutant runners. The course, known for its relatively flat terrain, anticipates quick times for both elite and regular runners.
