Team unveils Heroes Cup in Abu Dhabi

European Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald has announced the 18 players, including exciting Ryder Cup stars, Grand Slam winners and world golf’s most promising young players, to make up the Continental and UK and Ireland teams for next year’s Heroes cup. Abu Dhabi, January 13-15.

Luke Donald wants to ‘combine experience and youth’

Donald, captain of the European 2023 Ryder Cup team, said: “Having worked closely with Tommy and Fran on building both teams, I am delighted to see the combination of players that will debut at Abu Dhabi Golf Club in January.

“We both think it’s important to combine experience with youth and I think we’ve got a balance between Grand Slam winners and Ryder Cup players and players who want to get a place in Rome next year.”

Fleetwood, who has four points from four matches at the 2018 French Ryder Cup with Molinari, said: “I am very happy with the players who will make up the England and Ireland team next year.

“Having the experience of Shane and Tyrrell will be invaluable to the rest of the team in the playing environment, but I think our team as a whole is very strong. We have proven winners at some of the biggest DP World Tour events, at It’s great to have Séámus with us after a great start to the season in the US.”
