Dubai’s residents and travelers have a significant reason to celebrate as Dubai International Airport (DXB) Terminal 3 introduces advanced smart gates with facial recognition technology. This new feature allows passengers arriving at and departing from the airport to clear passport control in just a matter of seconds.
Streamlined Immigration Procedures with Enhanced Smart Gates
At DXB Terminal 3 five updated smart gates are now in operation, making the immigration process more efficient and contactless. These smart gates offer facial recognition technology that enables travelers to complete immigration procedures quickly and easily by using their optical and facial prints.
The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai (GDRFA-Dubai) confirmed this significant upgrade during the Gitex Global event. These advanced smart gates significantly expedite the immigration process, making it a hassle-free experience for residents and visitors alike.
Simple Registration Process: DXB Terminal 3
To use the enhanced smart gates, residents must first register using their passport or Emirates ID at DXB Terminal 3. Those who wish to register can conveniently visit the GDRFA stand at the Gitex Global event, which runs until Friday, October 20. This innovative service makes the immigration process swift and straightforward.
Effortless Passport Control: DXB Terminal 3
Once registered, passengers can clear passport control by merely walking through the smart gate, focusing on the green light (camera). Unlike traditional methods, there is no need to scan any identification document. However, it is recommended to keep your passport or boarding pass readily accessible in case it is needed.
Expansion Plans and the Future: DXB Terminal 3
While facial recognition technology is currently available at five smart gates at DXB Terminal 3, the GDRFA has ambitious plans to extend this system across Terminals 1 and 2, ensuring that passengers throughout Dubai’s airports can enjoy the benefits of this innovative and efficient technology.
